“Future-ready wireless solutions for safer, smarter utility operations.”

The Challenge

Utilities rely on wide-area wireless for field safety, plant operations, and real-time monitoring, but many are still running on aging systems like WiMAX. Coverage gaps, unreliable links, and end-of-life gear create real operational and safety risks. Most utilities don’t have in-house RF expertise, and designing a resilient network across large industrial sites takes engineering depth, capital, and dedicated resources. It’s a heavy lift without the right partner.

What We Did

Genwave built a modernization framework tailored to utility environments. It starts with detailed RF surveys and engineering to eliminate dead zones across plants, substations, and remote sites. From there, we replace legacy WiMAX with modern wireless platforms deployed by our P.Eng-led team.

For higher-bandwidth and safety-critical needs, we deliver Private LTE or Private 5G that supports SCADA, video, IoT, and worker safety systems. Ongoing operations are handled through GenCare or our NaaS model for full lifecycle support..

What It Means

Modern wireless gives returning workers real-time alerts, accurate location awareness, and lone-worker protection. Operations teams see faster data access, fewer outages, and mobile-ready workflows. The upgraded network becomes a foundation for smart grid and digital transformation initiatives. Utilities can choose traditional CapEx or a subscription model that keeps budgets predictable.
