“Turning clipboards into real-time data without slowing the terminal down.”

The Challenge

Many terminals still rely on clipboards and manual tracking to manage inventory, equipment, and container flow. With demand rising and turnaround times tightening, that approach can’t keep up. To modernize, terminals need secure, reliable wireless coverage in the non-carpeted, high-traffic areas where work actually happens. And they need it without trenching, shutdowns, or operational delays.

What We Did

Genwave used Cisco Ultra-Reliable Wireless Backhaul to extend the terminal’s network into the yard wirelessly. No digging, no weather delays, and no disruption to daily operations. The system mounts cleanly on existing light poles and structures, delivering secure, high-performance connectivity across the site. The design supports handheld scanners, IoT devices, and future automation initiatives.

What It Means

The terminal gets a cost-effective alternative to new backbone cabling and a wireless platform that scales as operations grow. Real-time data replaces clipboards, equipment stays connected, and workflows speed up. With GenCare managed services, Genwave monitors and maintains the system so terminal teams can focus on moving cargo while we keep the network performing at its best.
